Double Dare

Double Dare is a children's game show, originally hosted by Marc Summers, that aired on Nickelodeon. The show combines trivia questions with occasionally messy "physical challenges". It is often credited with putting the then-fledgling network on the map, and ranked #29 in TV Guide's list of the 50 Greatest Game Shows of All Time.

The show originated from the WHYY-TV studios in Philadelphia in 1986. In 1987, the show temporarily moved to New York City for a special weekend edition called Super Sloppy Double Dare. The show returned to Philadelphia in 1988; by then, Viacom syndicated the show toindependent stations & affiliates of the young Fox network. Beginning in January 1989, more episodes of Super Sloppy Double Dare were produced (during which time Nickelodeon began airing reruns of the previous year's syndicated episodes). Tapings began in Philadelphia, but later that year was moved to Universal Studios in Orlando. The show moved to Nickelodeon Studios in 1990, where it then became Family Double Dare, and it remained that until its cancellation in 1992. The final episodes aired in 1993.

As you know, Double Dare came back in 2000 and 2018. While the version created in 2000 was complete garbage, the 2018 version was enough to soothe the savage beasts that demanded a reboot! More information can be found on their respective pages!

Reebok was a major sponsor of the show throughout its run, and every contestant and stage crew member (including Summers) wore a pair of the company's shoes.

Unfortunately, at some point between 3/27/22 and 4/7/22, Viacom went on a flagging spree. This means that all of our hard work over the past 5 years has been expunged. As a result, most of the video links on our website have yet to be updated. If at some point any of the videos return to Chris Bryant's DailyMotion channel, our work on the "Double Dare Encyclopedia" will resume. We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience as we work through these challenges that Viacom has created.

Currently, a handful of episodes of Family Double Dare and Fox Family Double Dare can be seen between 8:12 AM and 10:30 AM PT on Pluto TV's brand new channel "90's kids 2" (Formerly known as Zoom Zoom). No guarantees that they will add additional episodes in the future, but we can only hope.

In the meantime, we'll be working on some teaser trailers for new shows that are in the works at KMAC TV, so stay tuned for that.

Update on the video links:

As of 5/13/25, All of the video links that were previously given are broken, and due to time constraints, we'll no longer be working to fix the issues (due to copyright issues, this project has been completely shelved until further notice.)

You can still watch Fox Family Double Dare and Family Double Dare on Pluto TV weekdays 8-10:30 am PT, and maybe on youtube.
